   Trail Courtesy

  • All trail users must follow trail etiquette and be courteous to other users
to ensure that our trails provide a safe and enjoyable experience for
    everyone.

  • Every trail may have its own rules and regulations, so check the information
sign board at the trail head. You may also be able to check the trail area
    website before you leave home.

  • Be aware of multi-use trails and share the trail.. Bicyclists yield to
hikers and both yield to equestrians. All users yield to people with
disabilities, be aware and respectful of their needs. Please be friendly and
    respectful to other trail users.

  • When meeting and equestrian, make verbal contact with the rider from as far
away as is practical. Stop, step off the trail and wait for the horse to
pass. Do not try to touch the horse.

  • Keep pets under control and leashed. Clean up after your pets.

  • Keep to the right of the trail, save the left for passing. If you stop on
the trail, move off to the right of the trail.

  • When approaching anyone on the trail, make the other person aware of you.
Always announce your intentions when passing. Pass with courtesy.

  • Always yield to those ascending a trail that your are descending.

  • When in a group, travel single file and don’t block the trail. Allow room
    for other users.

    Practice “Leave No Trace” ethics:

  • Stay on the trail. Cutting across switchbacks erode hillsides and make for
long hours of trail maintenance. Unofficial trails make it very confusing to
discern the proper course. Do not use closed trail. Do not use trails on
    private lands unless given permission.

  • Keep your impact minimal. Respect our natural resources, leave what you
find: refrain from gathering any plants, rocks, or other items you may
encounter on the trail – garbage excepted!
